Info

DJ Dirty Brown is a 13 issues comic series. Its target audience is teenagers, as well as adults who are young at heart. This musical adventure contains elements of contemporary dance club music, suspense, investigation, African folklore, time travel, computerized virtual worlds, magic, love and humor.

This is the story of Dirty Brown, a woman of mixed race (African-American/Caucasian) in her early 20s, who is one of the hottest DJs in town. She is sexy, sharp and bursting with charisma -- a club queen who drives around the city in a cement truck she has modified to serve as both home and recording studio. This is also the story of an ancient, magical green stone, Dirty’s inspiration, which she wears around her neck.  At first, Dirty does not know that the stone, which was given to her by a black trumpet player, was imbued by a shaman with jungle sounds and African rhythms as part of a plan to preserve African musical heritage.

Info

The World in Black and White is a series of MG adventure graphic novels with a mystical twist in which readers find themselves in a world stripped of all color (except under water), where humanity is left to carry on in a permanently grey, colorless existence. Leading the story is Dara, a rebellious teen who is hell-bent on solving this global color mystery which she believes is tied to the disappearance of her scientist father.

Book One
The colors have all disappeared (except under water) and Dara’s whole world is turned upside down. Her father, Red, goes off one morning, never to be seen again. Later, her mother – eager to start afresh – meets a new man to whom Dara takes an instant dislike. And whilst everyone is trying to get used to a colorless new normal; Dara, desperate to believe her father is still alive is given hope from an unexpected source; Josh, the son of Prof. Xuli, her father’s arch-rival reveals that he may have a lead that could help Dara track down her father. This sliver of hope triggers Dara’s decision to run away from home and locate her missing father, only to then realize Red is but a small piece of a much deeper, more sinister mystery.

Highlights from future books
Dara is reunited with her father on a mysterious island. There, she learns that her father has been hard at work trying to restore colors to the world. She decides to join him and help with his mission, however trouble does not end there. Along the way, Dara and Red will come to realize that there are those out there who will stop at nothing to prevent the colors returning and that even her father’s inner-most circle is infested with bad seeds, out to do him harm.
Dara’s adventures will lead her and her friends to faraway, ancient places; some of which are even considered fantastical. They will tap into mystical forces and all kinds of bizarre artefacts – all of which will help them on their quest for the truth behind the colors’ disappearance, whilst challenging and questioning everything they’ve ever held true about themselves. Ahead, a series of clues await them that will lead them to a previously undiscovered color which, if unlocked and unleashed into the world, could restore all other colors along with it.
